14 SECONDS

By Peter Yates.

Welcome to A Police State… by Stealth…

You’re arrested. You demand your rights. They’re denied. You argue. They give you a kicking. You complain. They laugh. You prosecute. They’re hysterical. You ask for justice. On holiday. So you protest. And you’re arrested…

14 SECONDS is a highly contoversial play about the Police already banned by one theatre for being:inge Play banned for being

"Too hot politically"

14 SECONDS, a new play about policing in the UK by Peter Yates, has been banned by The New Wimbledon Theatre.

The intention was for the play to preview at the Fringe Feeds Back programme at the theatre before going to Edinburgh.

Samantha Bain, Events Manager at the theatre said:

"I really enjoyed reading the script but due to recent incidents current in the news I feel that the content is a little too hot politically and that it would contravene our lease".

"This is a difficult call for us since we are opposed in principle to censorship".

Directed by Jenny Runacre.

A startling indictment of modern policing in the UK where function creep combines with a gung-ho mentality amongst the younger elements of the force to create an ubiquitous low-level of corruption.

The public thinks Policemen are The Law.

The Police believe they are above the law.
